A
22-year-old woman was killed and her husband suffered chest injuries
on Sunday when a branch fell on the tent in which they were
sleeping at a Tumut camping ground. The
branch narrowly missed the couple's baby, who was sleeping in a cot
in the tent. Police
said a 10-metre branch had fallen about 13 metres on to the tent, striking
Mrs Dianne Therese McCorey, of Bullaburra, Blue
Mountains, and causing head injuries. Mr
Peter Charles McCorey, 23, had been struck
on the chest and been admitted to Tumut Hospital for observation. He
was in a satisfactory condition yesterday. Police
said the tent had been pitched about five metres from the tree trunk and
that the branch was slightly rotted at the base. |
