Seventy-one people, mostly boys, were killed In New South Wales by
pea-rifle bullets from 1911 to August, 1915. The figures for 1916 and 1917
are not available yet, but the police state that the average has not been
reduced, so that in seven years we have lost about 100 valuable lives, while
in the same period aver 400 have been injured by bullets from these deadly
little weapons. In most other States there is some restriction on the sale of
firearms, but in New South Wales there is none. |
