Mr Edward Perkins, formerly of Cooma, died
at his residence: "Kahmoo" James Street,
Manly, on Saturday at the age of 77 years. Mr. Perkins resided at Cooma for many
years and was formerly engaged in mining pursuits. In later years, he was the
licensee of one of the principal hotels in Cooma. About ten years ago, the late Mr
Perkins retired from business and has since resided at Manly. Mr. Perkins was one of the last
survivors of the Gundagai flood of 1852. He was then a child of six years of
age and he had vivid recollections of the great flood. The late Mr Perkins is survived by a family
of ten including three sons:- Messrs J A Perkins MLA for Goulburn,
Thomas Perkins (of the staff of the Town Hall, Sydney) and Charles Perkins
(of the head office of the Bank of New South Wales). |
