Mr.
Charles L. Hume, of Castlesteads, Boorowa, who died recently, aged 78 years, was the
youngest son of Mr. Francis Rawden Hume, nephew of Hamilton
Hume, the explorer, and was the last of his generation. Mr.Hume was prominent in the public affairs of his
native town, having been president of the shire council and magistrate for
many years during the later years of his life. Mr. Hume resided in Sydney. He
was a member of the Warrigal Club, among others,
and was a familiar figure at the Randwick races and
at the first-class cricket matches. He
is survived by three daughters of a former marriage (to Miss Celia Maltby, of Yass), and by his widow, who was Mrs.Crossfield, formerly Miss Pauline Ohlfsen-Bagge,
of Sydney. |
