Rapid
Sailing. The
magnificent steam-ship Dundee, 1,200 tons admeasuremente,
and 300 horse power, being the most powerful steam-vessel in Britain, under
the command of Mr. Wishart (Mr. Ewing acting as
sailing-master, and Mr. Francis Jury her pilot), arrived off the Wapping entrance to the London Docks yesterday morning at
half past ten o'clock, having made the passage from Dundee, against unfavourable tides, in 40 hours !
This noble
vessel achieved a feat unparalelled in the annals
of steam navigation. She accomplished her voyage from London to Dundee, and
vice versa, in three days and eleven hours ! being a distance of above nine hundred and fifty miles. Morning Chron. |
