June 22. Deaths. - Another old and much respected resident has passed away in the
person of Mrs. J. Spies,
mother of Mr. Joseph Spiers, of the Royal Hotel, at whose residence she
died on Tuesday last. Mrs. P. L. Commins; wife of the landlord of
the Killarney Hotel, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson, of
Camp-street, also died on Wednesday. Literary
Institute. - At the monthly committee meeting on Wednesday last the resignation
of Mr. C. L. Kendall,
J.P., of his positions of honorary treasurer and committeeman, on
account of his having left the town, were accepted, and a hearty vote of
thanks accorded him for the unremitting care and attention he bestowed upon
his duties, and for the great interest he took in the general welfare of the
institute. Mr. A. Bray
was unanimously elected to fill the vacant post of hon. treasurer. |
