Tumut News 27
September 1879 Wagga Wagga Express |
The
exodus from Tumut to Sydney, for the purpose of visiting the: Garden
Palace, has not assumed very large proportions as yet. Almost
every resident speaks of going down, but the general expression is 'time
enough,' no one seems in a hurry to get the journey over. Cobb
and Co. are not spoken of in very flattering terms, the reason is that while
Government has reduced the fare by rail, the coach fare has not been
reduced anything between Tumut and Gundagai, and only 2s 6d of a
reduction between the latter place and Cootamundra. September 23, 1879. |
