Wednesday. The
Bridge was formally opened yesterday, and named after Hamilton Hume, the
Australian explorer, by Mrs. Allman. Over one
thousand persons were present, with three hundred school children. The
weather was gusty, but fair, during the ceremony. A luncheon took place at 1
p.m.; between forty and fifty were present, and there was a ball in the
evening, attended by nearly two hundred. All passed off well. |
